SANDY POINT LIGHTHOUSE

On Canada’s East Coast in the little Municipality of Shelburne, Nova Scotia a dear little lighthouse sits stoically in the middle of the harbour.  Between 1873 when it was built and 1989 when it was de-commissioned it was the guiding light for seagoing vessels entering and exiting Shelburne harbour.

Now it is part of a wonderful community centre and park and at low tide a sandbar stretches toward it and you can walk out to visit it up close.

An iconic reminder of  the proud Maritime heritage that exists along the south shore of Nova Scotia.

It is a romantic spot to view the most spectacular sunsets and a joyful spot to spend a sunny summer afternoon.

For the young crowd the lighthouse is also a Pokemon gym site.
