At the tippy of top of city of Halifax sits the Halifax Citadel historic site. Filled with rich history. The cannon that sits within the fortress still booms a noon day signal that can be heard, and felt, in Halifax. There is a Project Bookmark Canada interpretive panel along the ridge celebrating the work of esteemed author Alistair Macleod – No Great Mischief. The views from all points of the citadel are spectacular and worth spending time looking.

The year-round, daily noon ceremonial firing of the Halifax Citadel’s 12-pounder gun is one of the most enduring and recognized symbols in Halifax’s history. It is considered one of the oldest continuing noon guns in the world.
