For Sites Do I have to be a member of the National Trust to participate?
No! We do not require any form of membership for you to participate in HPD. All you need is an email to sign up with!
For Sites Can I register a historic district?
Yes! Historic districts and cultural landscapes are perfect places to be registered with HPD.
For Sites Do sites need to be registered in both English and French?
No! While we encourage each registration to be accessible to both French and English audiences, there is no requirement to register your place bilingually.
For Sites Can an organization register for multiple places?
Yes! Once you create an account through our website, you are able to register as many places as you please.
For Sites Is there a deadline for registrations?
No! We keep registration open all year round. However, the earlier you register the more exposure you will get!
For Sites Does my place need to be recognized as a National Historic Site to be included?
No! We encourage the registration of historic places, regardless of recognition or designation. National Historic Sites make up only part of all sites registered with HPD.
For Sites Can a monument or memorial be a historic place?
Yes! We feature a variety of historic places including monuments, geocaches, local museums, parks, gardens and businesses located in heritage buildings.
For Sites Is Historic Places Days (HPD) only for sites managed by Parks Canada?
No! While Parks Canada is a partner of Historic Places Days, any site or organization from across the country is encouraged to register.
For Sites Do I have to pay to register as a historic place?
Registration for #HistoricPlacesDays is free.
