Downtown Edson Mural Walk
Edson’s Downtown Mural Walk features five incredible murals painted by local artists as part of the multifaceted Resilience Project undertaken by CANOE (Culture and Arts Network of Edson) in collaboration with the Edson & District Historical Society.
Funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Commemorate Canada – Reopening Fund, this project was undertaken to showcase the role of arts and culture in community recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each mural showcases different aspects of Edson and area’s resiliency, covering everything from wartime and wildlife to long-standing businesses and more.
The Resilience Project also consists of a book featuring the stories of 15 Edson & area residents with unique stories that all exemplify the theme of resilience. These residents formed the nucleus of the remaining components, which included a series of portraits created by area photographers documenting the character and/or lives of the subjects, along with a documentary created by a local filmmaker.
