Alberta Beach Heritage Village and Museum
The Heritage Village and Museum was established in 1976, initially to tell the story of the founding, settlement and development of the community in and aroud the village of Alberta Beach. Over the years, the Museum has grown from simply collecting, preserving and exhibit historical artifacts to developing the Heritage Village that now comprises of 11 buildings.
Developing the Heritage Village required the commitment of volunteers. Thousands of hours of fundraising, paid and volunteer help were required for the initial purchase of the Old United Church Building on Main Street in 1989. In 1997, the original Grasmere Schol was donated to the Society and land was leased from the Village of Alberta Beach. Over the next few years, other original building were donated, more fundraising was done, volunteers relocated and renovated the buildings and fenced the park that has come to be known as the Alberta Beach Heritage Village Park.
