The Symes Road Destructor, built in 1933, originally served as an incinerator and later as a waste transfer station for the City of Toronto. After its decommissioning in the 1990s, the site became popular among urban explorers and rave enthusiasts. Designated a heritage property in 2012, the building underwent a stunning restoration and reopened in 2018 as the home of Junction Craft Brewery. This award-winning brewery is housed in the beautifully restored art-deco structure, where visitors can experience a piece of Toronto’s history while enjoying fresh, locally brewed beer in the taproom.
