The Beiseker Station Museum is situated within a beautiful historic train station. Come visit our exhibits inside, or visit an authentic CPRail caboose. The concise exhibits are perfect for a quick stop, or enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring the village’s churches, mural displays, and historic schoolyard sites. While in town check out the sod house, which is located outside the museum near the visitor parking lot and is accessible year round, for a unique local experience. Inside the museum you’ll find interesting exhibits, glimpses of what life in rural Alberta was like during different eras, and stories about the people who made this place their home. Beiseker is a village with a remarkable past, but its stories are emblematic of prairie life in southern Alberta, and so Beiseker Station Museum has meaning on many levels. Spend some time here and you’ll get a sense of why this land means so much to so many people.

Accessibility note: the museum is three floors, only the main floor is accessible by ramp. We have installed a video frame on the main floor to see the exhibits on the other floors. Washrooms are on the main floor. Accessible washrooms also available in the park.

Indoor washrooms are single occupancy.

Fun Facts

Our museum is a CPR train station that we rotated 180 degrees to face the street when the rail line closed. Beginning in summer 2022 the rail line became the “Meadowlark Trail” a multi-use trail that connects Irricana and Beiseker and is part of the Trans Canada Trail.

“Sam McGee” of the famous Robert Service poem is actually buried in Beiseker. He lived in the area here with his family after returning from the Yukon where he worked as a road builder. His daughter Ethel was a school teacher here.
