Heritage Day this year will be focused on the dedication of a plaque commemorating the Families of the Red River Metis. There will be a ceremony at the Metis flag attended by local dignitaries. Also showing off the talent of Metis Dancers and Fiddlers. A campsite showing an a typical Metis trapper . The Manitoba Muzzle Loaders Association will be in attendance with a period style campsite for people to tour. As well there will be a demonstration of a loom, finger weaving, and fire starting using a flint and steel.
There will be activities for the children such as Critter Dipping, Birdhouse building (10 and under ) , beanbag toss, face painting, bowling, free bubbles, and train ride around the museum site.
Demonstrations of rope making, butter making, spinning wheel and Blacksmithing will be going on.
Local musician will be on hand for added entertainment.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, pop and water will be available to purchase from local volunteers. A selection of home pieces of pie will be for sale. The local Red River Metis will have deep fried bannock (bangs) for sale along with Metis sashes sweaters . There will be crafters showing wood working, leather working, and knitting .
The Neepawa Victoria Quilters will be having a quilting show in the Hunterville Church and providing information on their program. The local UCT will be selling 50/50 tickets and announcing the prize winner .
The local Waves of Hope will be selling ticket to win a kayak. For those interested they will provide information on their program.
Admission to the site will be by donation with all the buildings opened for self tours or guided tours.
