More than a tour, this immersive audio play allows you to experience life as it was once lived at Dalnavert Museum. The audio play takes place over the course of a summer day, letting you listen in on a day in the life of the family and their staff while travelling through the house. Learn about the family, their lifestyles and attitudes, and also about the history and architecture of the home.
The story:
It’s July 22, 1896, and Dalnavert, the elegant Carlton Street home of of Sir Hugh John Macdonald, is buzzing. Lady Macdonald is enlisting a friend to help plan the debut of her step-daughter, Daisy, now back home from studying in England. Everyone who is anyone in Winnipeg society will be invited. Sir Charles and Lady Tupper drop in for a visit. Below stairs, Minnie, the cook, is training the new maid, Millie — and rapidly losing patience.
