Step into history with the Dalnavert Museum’s Metis history walking tour! Join our guides as they take us through downtown and see fascinating glimpses into Métis history. Learn about the beginnings of the Red River Métis during early colonial period and how they led their daring resistance against the Canadian government under the leadership of Louis Riel; examine the contrasting fortunes of Settler families like the Macdonalds who prospered under Westward colonial expansion and explore how this indigenous nation fought hard for its place in Canada. Come and learn how the past remains ever present for the Manitoba Métis.

This tour lasts approx 90 minutes. It departs from Dalnavert Museum and ends at the Manitoba Legislative Building. Tours will proceed rain or shine, but may be cancelled at the discretion of the guide in the event of unsafe weather conditions.
