Mistaken Point Interpretation Centre
The Mistaken Point Interpretation Centre is the starting point for all Guided Tours of the fossil site in Mistaken Point UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Centre offers information and exhibits on the local history, culture, and unique ecosystem of the Mistaken Point Cape Race area.
Ready to explore? The Mistaken Point Interpretation Centre is where your guided tour begins! Our friendly tour guides and staff interpreters are here to answer any of your questions on fossil science, the Eastern Hyper-Oceanic Barrens, and more. Enjoy an intimate experience with interpreters by taking part in a guided tour of our exhibit room!
Come on in and view a detailed interpretive map of the area, get the best directions and recommendations for hiking trails, and see artifacts salvaged from shipwrecks that scatter the local seafloor.
Don’t forget to check out The Mistaken Point Gift Shop which offers a wide selection of official merchandise and locally made crafts and decor, all inspired by our unique and storied home on the shore.
Inspired by our incredible natural and cultural history, we’re proud to feature works from local artists and makers on our shelves. Whether it’s your first trip or your fifteenth, there’s always a one-of-a-kind at Mistaken Point!
