Fun Facts:
This house for many years was the largest in Pictou, it is said to have been built by businessman John Dawson who was in Pictou as early as 1791. Alex Campbell and Andrew Miller purchased the property from Janet Dawson in 1832. Miller carried on a baking business until 1864. The Tanner family, of which Senator Charles Tanner was a member, carried on a wholesale shoe business which was later taken over by J.W. Priest.
It is believed that the property housed Public Health Offices in the 1960’s through to the early 1970’s. It is probable that the original entrance was on the east side.
