Fun Facts
- Sherbrooke Village recreates life during Nova Scotia’s 1860s Gold Rush, when thousands of prospectors flooded the area hoping to strike it rich.
- The village features more than 25 historic buildings, many of which were moved from surrounding communities and carefully restored.
- Visitors can still see traditional trades in action, including blacksmithing, weaving, woodworking, and letterpress printing.
- Sherbrooke Village has appeared in film and television productions because its streets and buildings look like a real 19th-century town — because, well… they basically are.
- The working wood-fired cookstove in the Jail can still turn out fresh biscuits, oat cakes, and treats the old-fashioned way, which may be the most historically accurate reason to visit, and something visitors are very surprised to get when poking their heads in the cells there.
