The SS Atlantic Heritage Park and Interpretation Center memorializes the wreck and rescue of the SS Atlantic. The SS Atlantic was the greatest loss of life on a transatlantic passenger ship until the RMS Titanic. We are here to share these stories.

The Interpretation Center brings to life the history of the ship, the wreck and the rescue of the survivors of the SS Atlantic. It also shares the history and heritage of the local communities. While visiting, read through our interpretive panels to learn more about the tragedy and heroism of the wreck. View the artifact displays to learn about life onboard the ship. Interact with our knowledgeable staff to learn more about the selfless generosity of the local communities.

Browse our craft shop for unique gifts created by local crafters. Enjoy snacks or beverages while you shop and rest.

Visit the Heritage Park and walk the boardwalk that wraps the coastline. Rest in the gazebo or park benches to enjoy the tranquil beauty of Terence Bay and the wilderness beyond. The boardwalk has interpretive panels that overview the story of the SS Atlantic. There is also a mass grave with 277 victims of the wreck buried and a monument created to remember this tragedy.</p

A hidden gem and a welcomed alternative to the hustle-and-bustle of Peggy’s Cove.
