Reid House was home to two generations of the Reid family. John Russell Reid had the home constructed in 1882 upon his marriage to Janet Clinkscale. The family lived in the home until 1967 when it was purchased by the Haliburton Rotary Club for the purpose of creating a community museum. The house housed the main museum gallery in downtown Haliburton until the late 1970’s when the decision was made to expand the museum and move it to Glebe Park. Reid House was then restored to be a period home, furnished c. 1900.
