Le Regiment de Maisonneuve is a Primary Reserve infantry
regiment of the Canadian Forces. The regiment is Canada’s twenty-sixth most senior reserve infantry regiment, and comprises one battalion serving as part of the Canadian Army Reserve
History
June 04, 1880 – This Reserve Force regiment originated in Montreal when the 85th Battalion of Infantry was authorized to be formed.
May 08, 1900 – It was redesignated as the ’85th Regiment’.
March 29, 1920 – Designated as ‘Le Régiment de Maisonneuve’.
November 07, 1940 – Designated as the ‘2nd (Reserve) Battalion, Le Régiment de Maisonneuve’.
December 15, 1945 – Designated ‘Le Régiment de Maisonneuve’.
In November 2021, the Regiment escaped narrowly from a fire that destroyed two buildings directly behind on St. Catherine St.
The direct area suffered for almost six months from a terrible odour resulting from the fire.
