Fun Facts

  • The building was originally built in 1940 and opened as the Capitol Theater showing movies until the mid-1970s.
  • Pete first sold ice cream, fountain soda and french fries in a corner of the theater in the early 1960s.
  • The namesake of “Pete’s” was a woman named Florence Rubin. She, and her husband Nate, ran the shop until her death in 2003. After 2003, their daughter has been managing/owner.
