PAMA serves the Region of Peel (Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga), a growing municipality with a population of over 1.3  million individuals from diverse backgrounds. PAMA also partners with community-based cultural, social services, health, arts and heritage organizations.

PAMA has a rich history from the origins of the Peel County CourthouseJailOffice Building and Registry Office, to its expansion completed in 2012. These historical milestones are a testament to the heritage of Peel Region and PAMA’s integral place within this history.

Fun Facts

The Peel Art Gallery, Museum + Archives collects, tells and shares the stories of Peel Region.

The former Jail and Courthouse were built in 1866 and 1867, the former Land Registry Office was built in 1890, and the Peel County building was built in 1959.

PAMA’s collection includes…

  • Over 12,000 accessions, including at least 15,000 objects.
  • Over 5,000 works of art in the Art Gallery collection.
  • Over 1400 boxes of archival documents and photographs, taking up roughly one kilometre of shelving. In all there are at least 400,000 photographs and many millions of pages of text.
