Over 100 years ago the quarry opened and it was believed this region would become the next city in the province. Evidently, that never occurred and the area remains rural. The museum preserves local stories of miners, fisherpersons, business men & women, priests, and teachers.
Stroll the grounds and garden, enjoy a light lunch and dessert at our onsite Tea Room, and browse our onsite Gift Shoppe. The shoppe features folksy souvenirs, art, and a wide array of items created by talented local craftspeople from wearable items including mittens, sweaters, socks, and scarves, to hand knit, crocheted, and embroidered home décor.
