Classified as a historical monument, the Old Prison of Trois-Rivières opened in 1822 and closed its doors in 1986 for unsanitary conditions. Until its closure, the detention centre was the oldest operating prison in Canada.

Combining technology and real-life facts, the guided tours of the Old Prison allow visitors to discover life in prison through different characters who gravitated in the world of this institution during its 164 years of service.
