Historian Leah Grandy’s thorough research for the Atlantic Loyalists Connections blog unveils a number of built heritage and primary sources plots the trajectory of the regions small Black community centered around Wilmot and who apparently attended Old Holy Trinity Church. Charles Hill appears to have been caretaker of the grounds in the mid-nineteenth century.
The Hills and a few other family names (Bush, Jenkins, Hamilton and Stevens) appear tied to Middleton and the Anglican Church. But others lived in Nictaux and Broad Cove (mostly Jenkins and Hills).
