Located just east of the Wallace River on Route 6 is the birthplace of famed astronomer Simon Newcomb (1835–1909). The small park has a cairn that was unveiled in 1935 to mark his many achievements. Another cairn, erected in 2012, honours Wallace native Willard S. Boyle (1924–2011), who jointly won the 2009 Nobel Laureate in Physics for inventing the charge-coupled device (CCD).
