The Mennonite Heritage Village (Canada) Inc. seeks to preserve the heritage of the Russian-descendant Mennonite community, both within Manitoba and around the world through collecting and displaying artefacts, creating informational exhibits and creating events and programming that demonstrates and highlights early settler life in Manitoba. While the content is Mennonite, we serve a broader community and serve the diverse communities of Southeast Manitoba, hosting 50,000 annual visitors, with over 10,000 being international visitors. We are beginning to expand our programming to include Métis and First Nations perspectives on the Mennonite migration, and the interconnection and reliance on these communities by early Mennonite settlers.

Fun Facts
- Mennonite Heritage Village is home to a number of historic buildings and over 16,000 artefacts that tell the story of the Russian Mennonites who came to Manitoba.
- Our museum features a fully-functioning restaurant, The Livery Barn, which serves authentic Russian Mennonite food. The building is reminiscent of a classic barn, down to tables set up in ‘horse stalls’.
- MHV is home to two stores, ‘Village Books and Gifts’ and ‘The General Store’. Village Books and Gifts is our gift shop where you can find memorabilia for your trip along with local creations. The books feature works of local authors and important Mennonite works, as well as a collection of used books. The General Store showcases a number of local vendors, along with being a fun candy shop for families.
- The iconic windmill located at MHV is well-known across southeast Manitoba, and is one of the only working wind-powered grain mills in Canada. The bread served in our restaurant is made from flour ground on location.
