The Leaskdale Manse National Historic Site was the Ontario home of Montgomery where she wrote 11 of her 22 books, transcribed her posthumously published journals and bore and raised her two children.
The Historic Leaskdale Church is the reason for Montgomery’s residence in Ontario. Her husband, Ewan MacDonald, served as the Church minister in the communities of Leaskdale and Zephyr from 1910-1926.
The Church maintains its historic character on its upper level, while its first floor has been renovated with a gift shop and an area to enjoy a cup of tea in historic surroundings.
The exquisite Church garden reveals a life-size bronze statue of Lucy Maud Montgomery, an ideal photo opportunity.
