Located within Humber Polytechnic, the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre is open to the public with guided history tours, and historical and art exhibitions for free!

Explore the 89 year history of the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital on a guided historical tour, and visit the exhibition that brings forward the lived experience of a woman who was there as a patient. “Grace: One Story of Thousands” follows the life and experiences of Grace, one of the 1,511 people buried in the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital Cemetery. Through personal letters and surviving hospital records, pause and reflect on a life lived – not defined by the institutional system in Ontario.

Discover how the campus transitioned from the former Psychiatric Hospital, to popular film location (think Police Academy, Strange Brew, the Handmaid’s Tale, and even Sabrina Carpenter!) on the Film History Tour, and archival exhibition “The Cottages: 30 Years of Humber, 135 Years of History.”

Take time and [visit] the flowers, featuring guest artist Damaris Abush. Celebrate the changing seasons with “Blooming” by immersing yourself in the textured florals and bright colours of these large scale oil paintings from a talented local artist.
