Open 24 hours

Kinross Pond is a municipal park where locals and visitors can relax in a natural setting. What was once an old tailings pond used by the former Lake Shore Gold Mine has since returned to an environment rich in plants and wildlife.

Around the pond is a 1.2km paved walking trail lined with plaques about Kirkland Lake’s colourful characters and community facts.

Benches, picnic tables, and exercise equipment stations are also along the trail.  A picnic area and children’s playground are located at the north end of the pond.

For those with strollers and mobility devices, a paved pathway is located on the right side of the picnic area from the parking lot located behind Tim Horton’s.

Following a visit to Kinross Pond, be sure to stop by the Museum of Northern History to learn more about the people and historic events of Kirkland Lake as featured on the plaques.
