The Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) office is located in the historic Hillhurst Cottage School, constructed in 1910 as a temporary building. Poor economic times and high enrollment kept this school open until 1955 (there are many people who still remember attending). This cottage school, with a two level wood frame structure and high roof, is a prominent building on the streetscape with natural wild plants and a few trees. The AWA office is conveniently situated in a residential neighborhood within walking distance of the downtown core. There is visitor parking behind the building that is accessible from the south bound alley on 5th Avenue. Contact us for a tour.
