The Hartland Covered Bridge crosses the Saint John River between Hartland and Somerville, and sits next to the Tourist Bureau & Gift Shop. Concrete ramps enter an extremely long covered bridge, 1282 feet (390.75 metres) in length, with an adjoining walkway of the same length that has been described as being a covered bridge of its own. The Hartland Covered Bridge is part of the New Brunswick Highway system.

Fun Facts

Although we use the metric system, the measurement of 1282 feet is how the length is referred to locally. In fact, a nearby canteen is named after its length – TWELVE82.

If you visit during the first weekend in August, you can join in the fun of Big Bridge Fest, which is our bridge’s annual celebration. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093662551335

There is a pedestrian walkway the entire length of the structure that provides some scenic views of the Saint John River. If you watch carefully, you might even see a bald eagle soaring overhead.
