The buildings which comprise the museum’s farmstead were all brought to the museum’s Glebe Park site in the mid-1980’s. The farmstead includes a log cabin, a barn and a blacksmith shop. They depict life as it would have been for the first generation of European settlers who came to area in the 1860’s and 1870’s to pursue agriculture. It was a challenging existence for these early settlers, many of whom moved to western Canada once the railway arrived in 1878.
