Near the south shore of Lake Simcoe, the Georgina Village Museum is a place where the past comes alive, stories are preserved and Georgina’s rich heritage is celebrated.
This 10-acre site is home to numerous buildings that interpret the history of Georgina between 1850 and 1920, including a one-room schoolhouse, a general store, a train station, a blacksmith shop, an apothecary and a backwoods log house.
Daily drop-in programs are offered throughout summer. These activities are included with admission (which is by donation).
The Georgina Village Museum is open to the general public in June, July, and August, Wednesdays to Sundays. We’re always open (year-round) for rentals, school groups, programs, special events, group tours, donations and research. To learn more about arranging a visit for your group or to inquire about other services and events, call or email us.
The museum also hosts a number of popular special events, including:
- Rise to Rebellion: An Interactive Re-creation of the 1837 Rebellion for Grade 7 students in May.
- Canada Day celebrations in true 19th-century style on July 1.
- In October, watch for two spooky events- the kid-friendly Family Fright and the hauntingly horrific adults-only Two Dark Nights.
- Kick off the holiday season by stepping back in time at Vintage Christmas in November when the village comes alive with the sights, sounds and smells of a 19th century Christmas. The lights and music continue until January!
