CThe Garry Theatre was a great success as it gave locals the opportunity of seeing first-run films again. Unfortunately on January 3, 1954 the Garry suffered from a fire that destroyed the interior and collapsed the roof. After getting rebuilt, it opened again on April 12, 1954 with a new addition of air conditioning! In May of 2021 Landmark Cinemas decided to close its doors after 73 years. In August 2021, City of Selkirk decided to buy the theatre.
