The Cold Lake Air Force Museum is an accredited RCAF museum. The facility was once a Cold War Radar Station that was active along the Pine Tree line and served with NORAD during the Cold War. The facility has been transformed in a multi-disciplinary museum which includes Air Force History, Oil and Gas History, Heritage and Early Settlers and Aboriginal. The facility and the surrounding land have been recognized as a historical resource in the Province of Alberta.
The Air Force Museum is a federal entity that is supported by 4 Wing Cold Lake, home to the largest fighter jet base in Canada. The remaining museums are municipally run by the City of Cold Lake. Together we form the Cold Lake Museums.
