For 42 years, the Museum has been telling the story of wooden schooners and coastal shipping on the St. Lawrence in a 360° experience, from forest to river. It interprets the shipyard (1946) and its four boats, including two schooners classified as “heritage assets”. It offers the multimedia experience “Entre pitoune et dynamite: the St-André” in a hold, numerous exhibitions, a vast 8.2-hectare park with hebertism track, plant maze, picnic areas, observation lookout, and a 4 km mountain trail. The Quebec government-accredited museum welcomed nearly 20,000 visitors and 15,000 walkers in 2022.
Very popular with families, the exhibition “Le huitième voyage : à la vitesse du vent” is dedicated to 19th-century sailing schooners. Visitors of all ages are invited to take the wheel under the captain’s command for a fun, technological and contemporary experience.
