Abraham Beverley Walker’s life reflects some lesser known aspects of nineteenth century Black life. In fact, until _____ A.B. Walkers grave site in Saint John remained unmarked. An unbefitting end for such an influential person. Walker’s heritage tied to Black Loyalist settlers on the Kingston Peninsula and Saint John. Born the son of a farmer, Walker was educated locally and then worked as a stenographer, touring other parts of Canada.
Walker eventually attended and graduated from National University in Washington, and was admitted as a Supreme Court attorney in June 1881 and was called to the bar in June, 1882.
