We are the house where Dr. Frederick Banting lived when he conceived the idea that led to his discovery of insulin. We are owned by Diabetes Canada. Our mission is to educate the public about who Dr. Banting was as a person, and how his team’s research continues to save millions of lives around the world.

Fun Facts

We are the only still-standing building that is associated with Dr. Banting’s life and research.

We were designated as a National Historic Site in 1997

We have received visits from Victor Garber, the Right Honourable Roméo LeBlanc and Diana LeBlanc, and Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and many others!

Our museum is turning 40 this year!
