Located only a few minutes from the Hopewell Rocks is our historic 1845 Shiretown capital featuring 24 themed exhibits inside 8 original buildings located along the Bay of Fundy coastline.

Come Explore an industrious place of Ship Builders, Mining Moguls, Lumber Barons, Apple Kings, a Prime Minister, Sea Captains, a Victoria Cross Winner and a Pirate! New from 2019 is “Acadians in Albert County” and for 2020 is the “Albert County 175 Mobile Exhibit” highlighting the land, sea and people of this vibrant community.

The Museum is nestled on a 6 acre beautifully landscaped site overlooking Shepody Bay, part of the amazing Bay of Fundy. The original buildings of the Shiretown of Hopewell Cape contain more than just artefacts, they contain the lives, stories, joys and heartaches, of a people who called this place home since the 16oo’s.

Buildings include the beautiful Albert County Court House, the Gaol (jail), Hopewell Cape Community Hall, Records Office, Tax Office, Carriage Shed and Library, all part of a once vibrant Shiretown and are in their original locations, lovingly restored, managed and operated by the Albert County Historical Society. The Exhibition Hall was built in 1980 to house our expanding collection of artifacts donated by community members.
