Whether you are a resident of London, ON, or live in another province (or anywhere across the world), you may have heard of the military base in our city. But did you know that the building identified as “A” Block was designated a national historic site in 1963? Initially known as the Infantry School Corps (ISC) building, it was erected between 1886 and 1888 to host “D” Company of the ISC.

Join our Curator, Dr Stanciu, to explore the site. Part II will premiere on our YouTube channel at 11 am on Saturday August 1st. Part II of “A Heritage Landmark in London, Ontario: the Infantry School Building” focuses on additions to the initial footprint, the interior architecture of this landmark, more precisely what is left of it. Built and owned by the Department of National Defence, the interior configuration of the building has seen many changes over the years and we actually know very little about what the barracks looked like, how the officers’ residences were furnished or the spaces used.
