Join us as Natalie Bull, Executive Director of the National Trust for Canada, tours the Van Horne Estate on Ministers Island. Discover the restoration and conservation of the iconic Van Horne livestock barn, as well as Sir William Van Horne’s vast house and bathhouse/artist’s hideaway. Ministers Island is one of the foremost cultural and heritage tourism destinations in the Charlotte Coastal Region of the Bay of Fundy of New Brunswick. Lying in the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay near St. Andrews, NB, the 500-acre island is reached by driving over the seafloor.

Excavations on Ministers Island in the 1960’s and 70’s turned up evidence of a Passamaquoddy settlement dating back thousands of years. Graves, tools, a shell midden and remains of buildings indicate their presence on the island known as Consquamcook.
