The Surly Bird Saloon in the historic Caribou Hotel is open for seasonal hours this summer.

Stop by to view the interior of this 110 year-old Yukon historic site and try a Yukon-made beverage or snack.

The ”Surly Bird Saloon” is named for Polly the Parrot who travelled over the Chilkoot Trail during the Klondike Gold Rush.  Polly was a yellow-naped green amazon parrot who moved into the hotel after his owners died during the sinking of the SS Princess Sophia in 1918.  Polly was known for drinking whiskey, foul language and singing opera. He entertained guests in the hotel until his death in 1972.
