Second and last Saturday of every month this summer

This is a guided walk through Downtown Winnipeg highlighting the role of the Métis Nation in Manitoba’s history. Engaging with a history that’s often oversimplified, this tour looks at Winnipeg landmarks through a Métis perspective. Learn about the emergence of the Métis Nation, how they mounted resistance against the Canadian government, and examine the contrasting fortunes of settler families like the Macdonalds, who prospered through westward colonial expansion.

This tour lasts approx 90 minutes. It departs from Dalnavert Museum and ends at the Manitoba Legislative Building. Tours will proceed rain or shine but may be cancelled at the discretion of the guide in the event of unsafe conditions. Recommended for ages 10+.

Please note the tour can be modified to avoid stairs but uneven terrain and sidewalks in poor condition may be challenging to navigate.
