A Newcomer’s Guide to Resting in Woodland.
Join us on July 6th, 2019 (tours at 1:00pm and 3:00pm) to dive into the history of Canada’s immigration history through the stories and stones in our cemetery.
Join us as we tell the stories of the folks who traveled from far and wide to make London their home in the 1850’s until the 1940’s. Each one of the stones we’ll visit tells the story of its owner’s journey to Canada in a different way: some list their home countries while others leave symbolic engravings behind. But each stone connects us to our local history and shows how Canada has been shaped by immigration. Our monument conservation team will demo a stone raising to show you another way that we uncover local history.
