Learn about the vibrant pre-war Japanese Canadian neighbourhood of the Powell St. area where there were 8000 Japanese Canadian residents and over 400 businesses along Powell St. before the Internment and Dispossession in 1942 at the outbreak of World War II.

Learn also about the miracle story of community resilience of the Vancouver Japanese Language School & Japanese Hall, one of the only properties returned to any Japanese Canadian after the Internment, now Vancouver’s new National Historic Site.
