📍 Two Events. One Historic Day in Saskatoon.
🗓️ Saturday, July 12, 2025
Join us for Historic Places Days – Saskatoon Edition, a two-part celebration of local heritage, nature, and stories hidden in plain sight!
🌟 Phase I: Explore Geocaching History
🕐 1:30 PM | Meet at Tim Hortons, Betts Avenue
☕ Start the day with coffee, conversation, and a deep dive into the origins of geocaching in Saskatchewan—then head out to visit Sask-cache-one (GC14F), the province’s very first geocache and Canada’s second-ever!
🎯 Think: GPS history, prairie landscapes, and a real-world digital treasure hunt that started it all.
🌲 Phase II: Forests, Founders & Legacy
🕡 6:30 PM | Meet at Parking Area P2, Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area
Take a guided nature walk through a 326-acre urban forest named for global conservationist Richard St. Barbe Baker. Learn about Saskatoon’s afforestation efforts, discover wetlands shaped by ancient glaciers, and walk through trails of towering trees planted 50 years ago.
🌿 Also explore the nearby George Genereux Urban Regional Park, honouring Canada’s youngest Olympic gold medalist.
📸 Enter the #HistoricPlacesDays Photo Contest!
Snap your favourite moment at either event and share it using #HistoricPlacesDays. You could win up to $500 in prizes thanks to the National Trust for Canada!
