On July 5th, 1975 a crowd gathered at the Huron Historic Gaol to unveil the plaque announcing its official National Historic Site designation and to celebrate the gaol’s opening as a museum. Only a few years earlier, some of those attending had fought to save the building from demolition. Join us 50 years later to celebrate the last five decades of heritage and history made possible by saving this local landmark. Live music and interactives happening at the gaol and on the lawn throughout the day.
Hands-on activities to include touch-the-truck with Public Works equipment (no jail walls will be harmed!). Refreshments (including ice cream!) while supplies last.
