Historic Places Days Photo/Video Contest



What would you do with $500 or a National Trust Membership?

The National Trust for Canada is giving exciting prizes during Historic Places Days. With hundreds of registered places and events open to the public this summer, you have even more opportunities to participate in Historic Places Days than ever before. We encourage you to visit a participating historic place and take a selfie, photo or short video of the place. If you’re not able to visit in person, we welcome you to share a cherished photo or video you’ve taken of the place during a previous visit. To enter the contest:
- Post your photo or short video on your Instagram or Facebook with #HistoricPlacesDays and #HPDContest2025
- Tag the historic place
- Tag and follow @nationaltrustca
If you’re at a Parks Canada site be sure to include #ParksCanada to show some support to our Historic Places Days partner and major sponsor. We would also love to hear the story of your visit, and about what the place means to you – feel free to share details in your photo or video captions!
To Win
Grand Prize Draw: Photo/video entries will be placed in a random draw to win one of two $500 cash prizes! If your entry wins, $500 will be rewarded to you and $500 will be rewarded to the historic site featured in your post!
Bonus Prize Draws: Bonus prizes will be awarded throughout Historic Places Days! Bonus Prize draws include:
- 7 Parks Canada Discovery passes
- 7 Canada’s History Subscriptions
- 7 National Trust Memberships
Extra Entry: Share our posts about the photo/video contest on your own social media account, tag @nationaltrustca and your favourite historic place, and gain an additional contest entry!
Additional Details:
- In posting, you give the National Trust for Canada permission to use your content in promotional material (social media, website, print, etc).
- You can use the same photo or video to post on all your social media channels on the same day, and you can enter the contest every day using a different photo, digital selfie or short video.
- A maximum of two (2) runner up prizes awarded per participant.
- In order to qualify for the grand prize, you must submit your own original photo or video entry. Entries gained solely from sharing posts will not be considered for the grand prize.
- No purchase necessary.

Get Ready to Explore, Share, and Win prizes for You and a Canadian Historic Site!
Contest runs June 25 – July 20, 2025
Shine a spotlight on your favourite historic places and win prizes to celebrate Historic Places Days! We are inviting Canadians to keep the excitement of exploring Canada’s historic places alive by creating your very own #CanadianVisitList. Tell us about your favourite places in your region or where you would like to visit next, whether that’s a historic site, museum, community space or cultural landscape. We welcome you to share a cherished photo you’ve taken from a previous visit as your VisitList header along with a description of your VisitList. To enter the contest:
- Create your very own VisitList highlighting 5 historical sites registered with Historic Places Days.
- Include the hashtag #CanadianVisitList in the VisitList title.
- Add an original photo as the VisitList header and a 100-word description of your VisitList.
- Post it on our Historic Places Days website.

Grand Prize Draw: Each historic site listed on a qualifying #CanadianVisitList will be placed in a random draw to win a $2,500 cash prize! Every contestant will be entered into a random draw to win a $500 cash prize!
Extra Entry: Share your photos and VisitList on social media using the hashtags #CanadianVisitList and #HistoricPlacesDays to gain an extra entry! Don’t forget to tag @nationaltrustca
Additional Details:

- To be eligible for the grand prize, sites must be registered for this year’s Historic Places Days celebration as a participating historic place.
- The site must have created its own listing on the Historic Places Days website.
- The site must be open to the public.
