Fun Facts

Sherbrooke Village recreates life during Nova Scotia’s 1860s Gold Rush, when thousands of prospectors flooded the area hoping to strike it rich.
The village features more than 25 historic buildings, many of which were moved from surrounding communities and carefully restored.
Visitors can still see traditional trades in action, including blacksmithing, weaving, woodworking, and letterpress printing.
Sherbrooke Village has appeared in film and television productions because its streets and buildings look like a real 19th-century town — because, well… they basically are.
The working wood-fired cookstove in the Jail can still turn out fresh biscuits, oat cakes, and treats the old-fashioned way, which may be the most historically accurate reason to visit, and something visitors are very surprised to get when poking their heads in the cells there.
