The Ulverton Wool Mill, built around 1840 in the heart of a charming site in the Eastern Townships, is a unique living museum in Quebec that brings textile heritage back to life through still-functional period machines. Designated a heritage building, it offers immersive guided tours, hands-on workshops in spinning, knitting, weaving, and felting, as well as an augmented reality experience for families. Surrounded by walking trails, covered bridges, and bucolic landscapes, the site also features a local craft boutique, a cozy bistro serving rustic table d’hôte meals, and a tearoom. At once a place of memory, learning, and relaxation, it strikes a rare balance between culture, nature, and tradition.

Fun Facts

🎨 Local artisans at work
Every summer, passionate artisans from the region come to share their skills on Sunday afternoons: knitting, felting, spinning, embroidery… Visitors often leave with their own handmade creations! These same artisans also offer their products in the onsite boutique.

🧵 A little sock that goes a long way
The Socksmith’s Workshop project introduces children in local schools to the art of knitting. It’s a wool sock… and a big step toward cultural transmission.

🥖 A local bistro: La Table de la Bergère
The mill’s new bistro highlights seasonal ingredients sourced from nearby farms.

📸 Weddings where past meets present
The site is so picturesque that it has become a favorite location for country-style weddings and photo shoots. The old covered bridge and the mill’s water wheel provide a naturally vintage backdrop.
