Founded in 1995, Lucan and Area Heritage Society has become an integral part of the community in Lucan-Biddulph, building and operating the Lucan Area Heritage and Donnelly Museum for nearly 30 years!

Having grown from a small storefront on Main Street, to a bespoke museum building with two historic buildings on site, the Donnelly Museum has continued to thrive and develop thanks to the tireless efforts of the heritage members, as well as the incredible and generous support of the community.

Our museum aims to preserve and present the history of Lucan and the Surrounding area. Our background is steeped in cultural heritage, not only the infamous Donnelly tragedy, but also the early Black settlement known as Wilberforce, and settlement of the Irish in the 19th century, and the Dutch later on. There is a lot of history in Lucan and many stories to be told.

Our motto ‘Remembering Our Past to Establish Our Future’ holds true and members of Lucan Area Heritage work hard to honour this motto.
