Once inside the wooden gates, visitors enter the realm of 19th century military life, experience guided tours, scenic views, heart-pounding musical performances and precision military demonstrations by the Fort Henry Guard. You will also see people representing the civilian population of the Fort as schoolteachers and soldiers’ wives. The Fort also plays host to numerous special ceremonies and events that take place all season long. En français: Une fois à l’intérieur des portes en bois, les visiteurs sont immergés dans la vie militaire du 19ème siècle, font l’expérience de visites guidées, de vues panoramiques, de performances musicales palpitantes et de démonstrations militaires précises par la Garde de Fort Henry. Fun Facts

  1. Along with the Rideau Canal, Fort Henry is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  2. Fort Henry is considered to be haunted. Visitors and staff have reported eerie experiences – especially in the soldiers’ barracks and jail cells. Take a Haunted Walk Tour to learn more.
  3. Since 1938, local college and university student recruits known as the Fort Henry Guard have performed military drills, cannon firings, and historic interpretations in full 1860s British military uniforms.
  4. Despite its impressive firepower and defenses, Fort Henry has never been attacked or seen battle.
