The Lachine Canal is a National Historic Site and an iconic gem located in southwest Montreal. Its 13.5-kilometer multi-use trail between the Old Port and Lake Saint-Louis, its waterway, its industrial heritage, and its riverside activities make this site an experience worth sharing.

In 2025, Parks Canada celebrated a historic milestone: the 200th anniversary of the Lachine Canal National Historic Site! For two centuries, this iconic waterway has shaped Montreal’s landscape, connecting its industrial past with today’s vibrancy. Whether you’re a history buff, an outdoor enthusiast, or simply curious, join the entire Parks Canada team for a very special year of festivities, where heritage and celebrations will come together along the water.
